Christmas Cheer 2011

Thanksgiving snuck up on me and now Christmas has done the same! Anticipating the busy-ness of the season, I decorated before we left for Thanksgiving.
Our outside decorations are the same as last year.
We put bows on the lanterns.

We hung wreaths I made last year.

The wreath that hangs from the upstares window lights up at night.

And the poinsiettas are in their pot

Last year I had red mums in the front bed and they were awesome. That was because I couldn’t find enough of the deep red pansies I wanted last year. So this year, I looked early and found the deep red in higher quantity. I planted them but I’m disappointed… you can’t see them!! They also have not done as well as the pansies I planted in pots.

Inside the JCrew house, we decorated differently. Neither Mr. JCrew nor I were in the mood for the big tree. My problem was having to move the rocking chair out of the living room when I use it for Little JCrew. Mr. JCrew did not want to lug the pieces from the attic and put it together. I have since found a spot I would like to put the big tree in future years, but we have yet to find a tree that does not come in pieces.
So, this year, we found a four-foot tall tree and put it on our end table in front of the window. We bought colored lights because I just knew Little JCrew would find them cooler than the white lights. The only down-side is I didn’t get the ones that twinkle!

Little JCrew already has three presents under the tree. We plan to stick with the three present rule to keep in line with the three wise men and their gifts.

The stockings are hung on the fireplace and the staircase.

Now we just need to remind Mr. JCrew to fill them up!!
We even added real garland to the fireplace

The garland was so long, I split it with my mom. But even after splitting it, it was still too long. I then looped it around a couple times.

I added ornaments to spruce it up.

I brought out my jingle bells and filled a couple vases with them.

The Christmas tree may be a tad small this year, but I like it! I’ll wait until the kids are old enough to help decorate it, and then I’ll pull the big one out for a couple years, and then when they get older, it will be back to the small tree.
I love this time of year. And decorating. The neighbors do a great job getting in the spirit. If I had a big house, I would decorate like this neighbor…

I’m in love with those nutcrackers!!!

Christmas Parties

The month of December flies by too quick. My memories of Nutcracker practices and performances take up a lot of what I remember about December. I use to wonder what it would be like without Nutcracker, but then couldn’t imagine what it would be without it. My identity was wrapped around Nutcracker. I loved it.
Here we are in the middle of December already, and I don’t have Nutcracker too blame. The first weekend of December, we had Rob’s work party.

This past weekend we had my work party (which I declined), a birthday party for Rob’s niece and a friend’s Christmas party. I also had a cookie swap on Sunday.

I loved seeing all my friends during the weekend. I feel like we’ve not seen them as much as we use to since Little JCrew came along. But I’m making more of an effort now to get out there and back in touch with my lovely friends!!!

This past week, I also got some great news. A good and dear friend in Hunstville is expecting! I could not be more thrilled!!!! She did so much for me during my pregnancy and has always been there for me, that I am so excited to be there for her! Plus, I just love babies!!!

16 Weeks

Just a mid-week pick-me-up!

Little JCrew is growing too fast! Nothing is off limits. As I sit here typing, he is reaching and grabbing an envelope in front of me.

He smiles at everything and babbles to the walls. He has blonde/light brown hair coming in and it's cute!!!

The kid loves to eat! Last time we weighed him he was already 16.5 pounds! 25 inches. Everyone comments how big he is! Yet, I love every inch of chunkiness on him.

Hope you have a great Wednesday!

Now that I have had two nights of decent sleep, I am returning to writing. Believe me when I say that had I tried writing before this point, you would have read words that were new to the English language!

For years, I have loved design. I look at magazines, websites and visit the local Parade of Homes for ideas. When I find something online, I always right-click on the picture to save it in a folder on my computer. The title of the picture is saved as what I like in the picture. Like "curtains" or "paint color." Many times I'll go back to a picture and find something else I like in it that I didn't notice the first time.

The only downside to this, is that I don't write down where I saw it. Sometimes the pictures come from somewhere that you can actually purchase the item. But most of the time, my inspiration pictures have nothing to be sold and I'm left clueless on where to find it.

Then came Pinterest. I have fallen in love with this new site. When you visit a webpage, you can "pin" a picture you like and add it to a folder. I usually still title the picture with the object of my affection in it. THe good part about this site, is when you click the picture on your Pinterest page, it takes you back to the website where you found it.

Pinterest is more than just design; you can "pin" anything! I have been on a mission to find kid crafts and save them. When Little JCrew gets old enough, I'll have a folder full of ideas to entertain him with! I've also printed out more than I've pinned and started a binder.

Another folder I started on Pinterest, was one for the Holidays. Craft ideas for the kids and me to do pertaining to a season. That's where I found this year's Halloween decoration. I usually don't decorate for this Holiday, but I liked the idea I found and couldn't pass it up.

The milk jugs in our house turned into ghosts! I put them at the edge of our driveway.

It was so cute on Halloween night. One little girl told me how she saw our house from the bus and told her friends about our gallons of milk! She was so excited to find our house when she went trick or treating.

I got so many compliments on them and I thought it was such a cute idea!

Pinterest is also great for recipes! I've made many things that I've found from there and will share in another post.

I apologize for the recent lack of pinning lately. Pinterest was finally blocked at my work (along with EVERYTHING else) that I haven't been able to look and pin things. When I get home, I rarely get on the computer, because all my time is spent with the little and big guy! Can't get enough of either one of them.

Go hop on Pinterest! You'll love it.
