Attitude Changer: Quote #5

In these related posts, I am sharing quotes from a wonderful book called, “Lead the Field’ by Earl Nightingale.

In summary, the book talks about your attitude. It determines your actions, as well as the actions of others. Mr. Nightingale takes our lame excuses for NOT being successful and refutes them all.

Today’s Quote: “What the mind can conceive and believe it can achieve!”

We become what we think about. If we want something enough we’ll get it. We can have everything we want. Most people don’t know what they want. Do you?

The system of goal setting will work for a new car and will work for anything else too! Set worthy goals. Don’t drift along as a wandering generality. Be a meaningful specific. Aspire higher! Don’t take life for granted. Goal setting is the very basis of any success.

Mr. Nightingale emphasizes the importance of setting goals. If you have a BIG goal that seems unattainable, set smaller goals that lead to the bigger goal.

With Mr. JCrew, he is applying this to his school work. He’s working on his Electrical Engineering degree. It can be an overwhelming goal when you see 20 classes that need to be completed! He knows the big goal is to get his degree. His smaller goals are broken down by a semester. He even goes smaller by class, by month, by week, by day and by hour! He has spent the last few months self-studying his math for engineering. He bought books and has been teaching himself! He set a goal of doing ten pages a day. This allowed him to learn the skills and do all the practice problems. As time went on, he increased his goal to twenty pages a day. Every day he has met his goal. Each goal met is considered success.

If you are successful in all your small goals, your big goal will also be successful. There is no way to fail!
